Sushant Singh Rajput Death: ‘Rhea Chakraborty Could Tamper With Evidence, No ‘Reasonable Grounds’ To Not Connect Her To Drugs Case’ - Court
While rejecting Rhea Chakraborty’s bail, a special Mumbai court said, she could tamper with evidence if released. The court also said there are no reasonable grounds to not connect the actress with drug case
Rhea Chakraborty, brother Showik Chakraborty along with drug peddlers were taken into custody after a drug probe linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. After applying for bail, Mumbai Session Court rejected it not once but twice. However, later it was reported that Rhea and brother Showik’s bail application is likely to be moved to the high court. Now as per the latest reports, a special Mumbai court, while rejecting Rhea’s bail plea, said that there are no reasonable grounds to not connect Rhea with drugs.
According to a report in Times Now, in a detailed order on Monday, the court said, “But it is also to be kept in mind that the court does not (have) to consider the material as if it is pronouncing the judgment of acquittal or recording finding of not guilty.” Showik and others bail pleas were rejected by Special Judge GB Gurao. The court also added that after her release she could tamper with evidence related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
As reported by PTI, the Court said, “The investigation is at preliminary stage, therefore, from the available record, it can not be said that there are no reasonable grounds to connect the accused (Rhea) (to the case). It is pertinent to note that in section 27(A) of the NDPS Act, no particular quantity of the drug is required to prove the offence. At this stage, when the investigation is at preliminary stage, it can not be said that the said statement of the accused was forcefully recorded and (was thus) inadmissible as evidence.”
It is being reported, Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde has sought actress’ bail on the grounds that no drugs were seized from her and she was forced to make a statement. Rhea was booked under section 27(A) of the NDPS Act which is a non-bailable offence. (ALSO READ: Did Rhea Chakraborty Name Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh In Drug Case?
